30 Second Challenge

Take the 30 Second Challenge to test your readiness to respond to a boating emergency.

The Department of Transport’s (DoT) 30 Second Challenge campaign aims help skippers and passengers prepare to respond to an emergency while on board a vessel.

The 30 Second Challenge tests if you can get your flares, EPIRB, make a radio call and put on a lifejacket in 30 seconds.

DoT Marine Safety Education Officers conduct the challenge at boat ramps and marine events around Western Australia with prize packs available for people who can successfully complete the challenge.

You don’t have to wait for Marine Safety Education Officers to take the 30 Second Challenge – watch the video below and test yourself at home next time you plan on going boating.

Sign up for our Boating Communities newsletter, join us on Facebook or download the Deckee app to find out the date and location of the next 30 Second Challenge event.

How quickly can you complete the challenge?
