Training and workshops
The Department of Transport’s (DoT) Maritime Environmental Emergency Response Team provides training and workshops that are either informal or courses that award nationally-recognised units of competency.
DoT’s Maritime Environmental Emergency Response Team also facilitates access to training and workshops provided by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority under the National Plan for Maritime Environmental Emergency.

Australian Maritime Safety Authority National Plan facilitated training
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has designed competency based training courses, online training and workshops for responders under the National Plan.

DoT’s Maritime Environmental Emergency Response Team are the training coordinators for attendance by Western Australians on AMSA National Plan facilitated training and workshops.
Exercises
DoT’s Maritime Environmental Emergency Response (MEER) Team facilitates:
- a State MEER Exercise every year
- access to National Plan Exercises provided by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority under the National Plan for Maritime Environmental Emergency.
Nominations to participate in exercises are either sought through registration processes outlined in exercise flyers, or by calls for nominations direct from the DoT MEER Team.
