Goldfields/Esperance

Mariners are hereby advised that swimming activities involving approximately 40 participants will take place as part of the VacSwim Program during the following period:

Tuesday, 6 January 2026 – Friday, 16 January 2026
Lesson Times: 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM

•    Albany – Cosy Corner
Coordinates:  - 35°03.975'S, 117°38.638'E

•    Cape Riche
Coordinates:  - 34°35.838'S, 118°45.058'E

•    Starvation Bay
Coordinates: -  33°55.118'S, 120°33.423'E

Important Notices for Mariners:

•    Exercise caution when transiting these areas during the above period.

•    Boat ramps will be closed at all venues from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily.

•    Swimming areas will extend no more than 50 metres offshore and no more than 50 metres along the beach in either direction.

A directional wave buoy (DWRB) has been deployed approximately 7.4 nautical miles offshore from Esperance at the location below. The DWRB is yellow in colour, approximately 700mm in diameter, and equipped with a 2m whip antenna and flashing yellow light.

Mariners are requested to maintain a minimum distance of 100 meters from the DWRB, including any associated fishing equipment at all times so as to not interfere with or damage the DWRB.
