Vehicle Licence Direct Debit Privacy Collection Notice (DoTDirect)
About this notice
The Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI) collects personal information, including your nominated bank account details and information relating to your vehicle licence renewal, for the purpose of establishing, administering and processing direct debit payments for vehicle licence charges under Road Traffic legislation.
Why we collect your information
While DTMI already holds your personal information through your DoTDirect account and vehicle licensing records, additional information is collected as part of the direct debit arrangement to enable recurring payments to be processed, payment records to be maintained, and the direct debit arrangement to be managed.
This information is collected and used for the administration of vehicle licensing under the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Act 2012 and the Road Traffic (Vehicles) Regulations 2014, including the direct debit arrangements introduced for vehicle licence renewals.
Who we share your information with
DTMI may disclose your information to financial institutions, payment service providers and other entities involved in processing direct debit transactions. Information may also be disclosed where authorised or required by law.
Your rights
You may access or correct your personal information by emailing foi@transport.wa.gov.au or visiting our Freedom of information page.
What happens if you do not provide information
Providing the requested information is voluntary. However, if you do not provide the information required for the direct debit arrangement, DTMI will be unable to establish or administer the arrangement, and you will need to use another approved payment method for your vehicle licence renewal.
For more details on how we manage your personal information, see our Privacy Policy.
