Mariners are advised that survey and maintenance dredging works will be conducted within the Port of Port Walcott. Survey works will commence on 13 of August 2026 with dredging works to commence around 25 August through to the end of September 2026. Operations will be conducted on a 24-hour basis.

Operations will be undertaken by the survey vessels Pure Adrenaline and Black Jack, together with the 157.5m LOA Trailer Suction Hopper Dredge “Juan Sebastian de Elcano” and sweep vessel MTS Vantage.

All vessels taking part in these works will display lights and shapes in accordance with the Prevention of Collisions in State Waters Regulations 1983 at all times.

The following vessels will be utilised for the operations: 
•    “Bhagwan Abrolhos” multicat (LOA=26.5m) – Mooring & navigation aid removal operations
•    “Bhagwan Alamo” work barge (LOA=27.2m) – Mooring & navigation aid removal operations
•    “Sea Stryder” crew transfer vessel (LOA=20.0m) – Crew transfers and support
•    “Henderson” cargo barge (LOA=76.0m) – Transport of moorings to mainland

Operators will monitor Marine VHF channels 10 and 16 during operating hours.

Mooring and navigation aid removal activities are planned to be undertaken in daylight hours; however, activities may extend into hours of darkness if required to allow operations during favourable weather conditions.

In the case of bad weather, the vessels may shelter at B2 anchorage to the north of Double Island (within Port of Barrow Island). 

“Henderson” will be stationed on a swing mooring installed at location 20° 48.979' S, 115° 33.198' E. The “Bhagwan Abrolhos” and “Bhagwan Alamo” are planned to be secured alongside the “Henderson” or connected to existing tanker moorings when standing by. Marine crew will remain on the vessels overnight with some other personnel planned to transit aboard the “Sea Stryder” and be accommodated on Barrow Island. Vessels at sea will maintain a watch at all times.

All vessels taking part in these works will display shapes and lights in accordance with the Prevention of Collisions at Sea Regulations 1983 at all times. 

Mariners are advised to navigate with caution when transiting the area and keep outside of the 500m exclusion zone around the marine operations at all times. 

Mariners transiting within 1,000m of the operations are requested to reduce speed and minimise wake. This is to reduce the risk of wash-induced movement affecting personnel, moored vessels, and equipment engaged in the mooring and navigation aid removal activities.

Mariners are advised that Discovery Marine Australia Limited is undertaking hydrographic survey operations on behalf of the Australian Hydrographic Office. The survey area is located north of the Dampier Marine Park, to the north west of the Dampier Archipelago, and abutting the port limits of Port Walcott.

The survey area is bounded by the following coordinates:

•    -20° 08.12’S, 116° 54.38’E
•    -20° 07.96’S, 117° 36.52’E
•    -20° 14.71’S, 117° 33.72’E
•    -20° 14.71’S, 117° 14.69’E
•    -20° 17.36’S, 117° 13.19’E

The survey will be conducted between 27 July and 9 October 2026, taking approximately nine (9) weeks to complete. The survey vessel MV Outer Limit (VJN3640), a 35 metre catamaran, will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at slow speeds (<10 kts), conducting sounding operations along planned survey lines oriented predominantly in an east–west direction.

All vessels taking part in these works will display lights and shapes in accordance with the Prevention of Collisions in State Waters Regulations 1983 at all times.

Two bottom mounted instruments with lit surface floats will be deployed for the duration of the survey at the following locations:

• Madeleine Shoals (North) – 20° 17.2’S, 116° 49.8’E 
• Pt Walcott Fairway (North East 2) – 20° 07.8’S, 117° 36.7’E

Description: Mariners are advised that 2x subsurface seabed water quality instruments have been deployed in Beadon Bay, Port of Onslow.

Instrument #1 is approximately 0.31 Nautical Miles from the shore (0.23 NM West-North-West of the end of the Western rock wall) in the following location: 21° 38.211''S, 115° 07.973''E

Instrument #2 is approximately 0.22 Nautical Miles North-East of the Outer Channel Port Marker 4507 in the following location: 21° 36.883''S, 115° 07.735''E

The above sensors are mounted onto a metal seabed frame
specifications: 0.7m(w) x 0.7m (d) x 0.4m (h) and 1m(w) x 1m(d) x 0.6m (h)

The two seperate seabed water quality sensors consists of a yellow special marker approximately 700mm in Diameter and are equipped with a flashing yellow light fl. 4s

Mariners are advised to navigate with caution when transiting the area and keep well clear of the special marker at all times.
