All WA schools can participate in WA Bike Month and are encouraged to organise an event.
Consider hosting a ride to school breakfast, bike education session or a dress up your bike parade during October.
Your Move
Schools are encouraged to register to the Your Move program, a free DTMI initiative that supports active travel to school and even has a rewards system. Schools can earn reward points for active travel activities, including WA Bike Month celebrations. The points can then be used to purchase goods that support walking, wheeling and riding to school more often.
Your Move schools can use WA Bike Month grants and their Your Move reward points in the Rewards Shop to host a bike riding event in October. If you’re after some inspiration, there are some great stories, activities and resources on the Your Move website.
Activity resources
Mix up outdoor riding events with some indoor activities during WA Bike Month, or throughout the year. From a ‘word search’ and ‘language match’, to a bike-themed version of ‘snakes and ladders’, keep students on a roll and test their bike knowledge!
