“Coming off maternity leave, I was desperate and determined to be able to get my licence so I could get to work and my two little ones to where they needed to be,” Angel-Skye said.
Before turning 25, she began logging hours, but after having her babies, her progress stalled. After turning 25 and no longer needing to log 50 hours, she rushed to attempt her practical driving assessment (PDA) but was unsuccessful.
That’s when she enlisted the support of Umbrella Group Great Southern’s MIYAD Wheels Program, funded by the Driving Access and Equity Program (DAEP).
With the support of her instructor, Suz, Angel-Skye finally received the support she had been seeking and Suz’s clear explanations, mock tests and practical tips helped build her skill and confidence behind the wheel.
“My instructor was so kind and compassionate, taught me some new things and ways to help me in areas I was struggling with, especially those tricky little manoeuvres,” Angel-Skye said.
With the support of MIYAD Wheels, Angel passed her PDA and gained the independence she had worked long and hard for.
“I cannot thank the MIYAD Wheels Program and DAEP enough for helping me obtain my licence, especially at a time I really needed it,” Angel-Skye said.
