About Perth and Peel@3.5 million
The Perth and Peel region stretches across more than 150 km, from Two Rocks in the north to Bouvard in the south.
More than 2 million people call the Perth and Peel region home. This number is estimated to grow to more than 3.5 million by 2050.
As we move towards this population milestone, we will need to make changes to the city’s transport network to keep Perth and Peel moving.
We need to plan for a transport network that will drive urbanisation around infrastructure and provide easy access to work, education, and other activity centres.
Perth and Peel@3.5 million – Transport Network consolidates the transport components of the Western Australian Planning Commission’s Perth and Peel@3.5 million planning frameworks. Released by the State Government in March 2018, the Perth and Peel@3.5 million planning frameworks present a long-term strategy for homes and jobs, including land use and infrastructure provision for the Perth and Peel region.
A range of projects and initiatives across the Transport Portfolio will support efficient and effective movement of people and freight that is integrated with land uses and links key economic and employment opportunities, including:
