Active transport in Mount Hawthorn WA

Design and infrastructure grants

DTMI offers part-funding for the design and construction of active transport infrastructure projects across Western Australia.

Grants are available to local governments through two streams:

  • Perth Bike Network
  • Regional Bike Network.

Both streams are based on a co-funding model, with the State Government providing a contribution of up to 50 per cent of the total project cost.

Applicants may apply for funding across up to 4 financial years to facilitate projects over multiple years or to enable advance planning and scheduling. This supports quality development, design and delivery.

Design and infrastructure grants will be awarded within the total available funding per intake. This means that grants might not be offered annually.

Perth Bicycle Network

The Perth Bicycle Network (PBN) stream is available to metropolitan local governments included in the Perth and Peel Long-Term Cycle Network (LTCN), except for the shires of Murray and Waroona.

The PBN stream underwent a refresh in 2024 to better maximise the State Government’s strong investment in public transport infrastructure to the priorities of the LTCN. The scope for eligible projects is currently under consideration.

Regional Bike Network

The Regional Bicycle Network (RBN) stream is available to regional local governments outside of the LTCN and including the shires of Murray and Waroona.

Funding allocations for the RBN are currently committed through to 2027-28.

Awarded WABN projects

The most recent application round for PBN and RBN projects was in 2024. Details of funded projects and initiatives between 2024-25 to 2027-28 for both streams are available in the PDFs below.

An interactive map also outlines the projects awarded funding following the 2024 intake.
