To get your learner’s permit, you will need to pass a computerised theory test that assesses your understanding of the WA road rules.
There are specific theory tests for cars and motorcycles/mopeds.
You can find all the information you need to pass the test in the Drive Safe or Ride Safe Handbook.
Practice quizzes for car
Each quiz consists of 30 multiple choice questions.
Select the answer that you think is correct. Some questions include images, many do not.
You must attempt all 30 questions to review your results.
Quiz questions are based on the Drive Safe handbook.

You must attempt all 35 questions to review your results.

When to sit the theory test
When you are confident you can pass the road rules theory test, you will need to sit a computerised theory test at a Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) centre, regional DoT office or agent.
You can undertake the theory test when you apply for you learner’s permit.
You will need to pay a fee.
All tests must commence before 3.45 pm.
You do not need to make an appointment to sit the theory test at any metro DVS centre.
You may need to call ahead at our regional DVS centres or agents.
If you do not pass, you will need to resit the test on another day and pay a resit fee.
Oral theory test
You may be eligible to complete the theory test orally, if you have difficulty reading or using computers.
If required, the oral theory test can be conducted in a language other than English using NAATI translators.
