The Department of Transport (DoT) is assisting Police and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority following today's fatal incident in Perth Waters involving a float plane.

DoT Director of Waterways Safety Management Chris Mather said patrol officers had been the first on the scene following the incident.

He said a marine incident investigation would be undertaken and DoT would be assisting Police to prepare a report for the Coroner.

DoT is controlling the on water activities for the Skyshow and is calling on the boating public to assist by following directions from officers at all times.

"This is a tragic incident and reinforces the need for people to be constantly vigilant and ready to respond while on the water," Mr Mather said.
