Following yesterday's tragic incident on the Swan River, the Department of Transport (DoT) is coordinating the removal of the wreckage from the site.

General Manager of Marine Safety at DoT, Ray Buchholz is coordinating the removal in partnership with WA Police, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) and the Department of Parks and Wildlife.

"Our primary concern is maintaining the integrity of the site and wreckage for the purposes of the investigation by the ATSB," said Mr Buchholz.

The ATSB maintains responsibility for the investigation which is ongoing.

River users are advised that a 200 metre exclusion zone has been established around the wreck site and remains closed to the public until further notice.
