We are excited to announce the Department of Transport (DoT) has been recognised as an Inclusive Employer in the prestigious Diversity Council Australia Index for 2024-2025.
The Inclusive Employer Index maps and tracks the state of inclusion in the Australian workforce.
To join the Index, employers must prove their commitment to inclusion and diversity by having employees complete an in-depth survey to map the state of inclusion in their workplace.
Only those employers that produce results exceeding national benchmarks on a series of key measures are awarded the status of Inclusive Employer.
This year, forty-one per cent of DoT employees participated in the survey, and DoT outperformed the national benchmark on 42 of its 43 measures.

DoT Executive Director People and Culture Isabeau Korpel said that having the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion formally recognised was a significant achievement.
“By joining the Inclusive Employer Index, we have demonstrated that we surpass national standards on critical benchmarks, showing that our appreciation of diversity and dedication to inclusion is truly felt by our employees,” Isabeau said.
“State Government agencies must be reflective of the community in which they operate.
"At DoT, we engage daily with individuals from diverse backgrounds and identities, including customers, employees, industry partners and stakeholders.
“To get the best outcomes from these relationships there must be opportunities for economic, social, cultural and community focused contributions, from everyone involved.
“By participating in the Index, DoT can measure and track inclusion and diversity within the organisation, understand the impact of inclusion, compare findings against national benchmarks, and set data-driven inclusion targets and actions for continuous improvement.
“This formal recognition underscores DoT's unwavering commitment to workplace inclusion and diversity, ensuring every employee can contribute to their full potential and feel a sense of belonging.
“Being an inclusive workplace is an important part of building a strong workplace culture, and I invite everyone to embrace it, every day.”
