Spoilbank Marina

The impressive new Spoilbank Marina at Port Hedland is now complete providing modern, state-of-the-art facilities that rate amongst the best on the WA coastline.

The Spoilbank Marina is a new marine hub for the local community and visitors to enjoy, with 22 new cyclone-rated floating boat pens, a four-lane boat ramp and a fishing platform and cleaning facilities.

The new larger boat ramp, opened in January 2024, is accessible at all tides and together with the new boat pens they significantly improve access and safety for the boating community.

Boat owners interested in becoming a penholder at the marina should apply now. 

Port Hedland is a popular spot for fishing, crabbing, whale watching and known for turtle nesting.

Harbour Facilities

Boat ramp

There is a four-lane boat launch ramp with two floating universal access jetties.

Public carparks

There is a well-maintained public car and boat trailer parking area for 200 vehicles located near the marina entrance.

Public Jetty

There is a two-storey public fishing jetty on the western seawall with an artificial reef installed underneath.

Fish cleaning, public jetty and other facilities

To be provided as part of the works by the Town of Port Hedland.

Expired flare disposal

Flare disposal is available at the Department of Transport Karratha Office, 2/20 Sharpe Avenue, Karratha or Main Roads, 12-16 Brand Street, South Hedland.

Breakwaters

There are two breakwaters to protect against wave penetration into the marina which are also publicly available with pedestrian paths.

Floating pens with walkway are charged per metre of pen length, with CAT pens charged at 150% of that rate. The floating pens alongside berth are charged per metre of the vessel length.
