National Road Safety Week

Insights and resources for the Department of Transport

05
May
2025

National Road Safety Week kicks off this Sunday 11 May and runs until 18 May 2025, prompting us to drive so others survive.

An annual initiative from the Safer Australian Roads and Highways Group in partnership with road safety organisations, the week highlights the impact of road trauma and ways to reduce it.

DoT supports National Road Safety Week by raising awareness and encouraging everyone to be a champion for safety on our road and path networks.

During the week we acknowledge National Walk Safely to School Day, which encourages primary school children to walk to school and be alert to road safety.

We also shine a light on the important role that traffic wardens play in safeguarding children and the broader community at busy roads and intersections.

DoT is all about helping Western Australians safely get to where they need to go, whether they drive, walk, wheel or ride.

Find out more about sharing paths and roads, or get streetwise and test and refresh your knowledge of local rules.
