All of Emilie’s school peers had achieved their driver’s licence, but as someone with learning difficulties, she was worried the process and testing would be too challenging for her.

Driving Access and Equity supported organisation Real Futures, assessed Emilie and provided her with a tailored driving plan to suit her needs and help her achieve her goal.

“The support they offered was outstanding and ensured she was confident in her abilities to safely navigate the roads,” said Emilie’s mum, Leanne.

According to Leanne, Emilie has become a more valuable member of the team at her work, where her driving skills have meant she’s able to complete many extra tasks. It’s also seen her confidence and self-esteem blossom.

“She is able to go where she wants and do the things she loves. It has given her the freedom to enjoy her community and is helping her on her way to independent living,” she said.
