Ezra from Karratha is convinced that the support he received through Robe River Kuruma Aboriginal Corporation (RRKAC) was essential to helping him achieve his learner’s permit.

“Going to the RRKAC learner’s session made it easier to understand on paper and was a welcoming environment that I felt comfortable in,” he said.

“I would not have got my learner’s if this option wasn’t there.”

The corporation received a Driving Access and Equity Program grant to expand the Pilbara RYDE Program. The program helps young people like Ezra who live in the Karratha region get their licence, including the opportunity to complete the required 50 hours of supervised driving with a volunteer driving mentor.

“In my Pilbara Ryde Sessions I go driving to places I wouldn’t normally visit. The 90-minute sessions are driving adventures where I learn to be a safe driver,” said Ezra.
