Jasmine’s driving dreams inspired by daughter
Insights and resources for the Department of Transport
Jasmine from Karratha got her learner’s permit for the first time when she was 16 but didn’t feel mature or confident enough to get behind the wheel.
Now at aged 30, she is proud to have successfully completed her licensing journey.
Jasmine received driving instruction and mentoring sessions through Robe River Kuruma Aboriginal Corporation, who were supported with a Driving Access and Equity Program grant to expand their Pilbara Ryde Program.
“My daughter inspired me to get my licence and to make a better future for us both,” said Jasmine.
“Having my licence made me cry. I can finally drive my daughter to Onslow to my family for Christmas and I’m now applying for better jobs.”
