Manual licence lands Lesleigh’s mining career

Lesleigh from South Hedland first came to Driving Access and Equity Program supported organisation Ashburton Aboriginal Corporation in the Pilbara, for help to get her automatic driver’s licence.

Lesleigh had been selected to be part of a mining training program and staff knew her chances of securing ongoing employment beyond the training program would be significantly enhanced she took on the on the challenge of getting her manual licence.

Lesleigh agreed to give manual lessons a go in Ashburton’s Ford Ranger and quickly adapted, proving herself a confident and competent driver.

She passed her practical driving assessment with flying colours and her manual licence was crucial in helping her secure a career with a local mining company.
