The Department of Transport (DoT) is responding to a 22 metre super yacht that has grounded on reef in State waters near Turtle Bay East Wallabi Island in the Abrolhos Islands WA.

As the State agency responsible for ensuring an adequate response to such incidents in State waters, DoT is working with Department of Fisheries, the vessel owner and insurers to confirm the situation and coordinate an appropriate response.

An initial assessment of the potential environmental impact is currently underway and a flyover of the area is taking place.

DoT will continue to provide more detailed updates on the situation and the response effort once further details can be confirmed.

For more information about DoT's role in responding to maritime environmental emergencies, visit the Maritime environmental emergencies section.
