New Department of Transport centre for growing Busselton community

A new Department of Transport (DoT) centre will open in Busselton towards the end of the year, giving the growing population of Busselton and surrounding areas greater access to transport services.

Customers will benefit from increased access to in-demand computerised theory and hazard perception testing at the new facility, as well as DoT services previously unavailable in Busselton such as National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) worker screening checks, jetty licence payments and over-the-counter support for passenger transport operators.

The centre will be located at Unit 1, 57 Cook Street, Busselton, providing customers with a convenient one-stop-shop for their licensing and transport needs, without needing to travel to Bunbury.

DoT Regional Services Acting Executive Director Vince Tamigi said the new Department of Transport service centre in Busselton was a major win for the local community and the result of months of planning and consultation with the City of Busselton.

“The new centre will mean DoT has the capacity to provide comprehensive in-person customer assistance to the people of Busselton and surrounding areas to keep up with the growing demand for its services,” Mr Tamigi said.

“Within the next decade, the population of the City of Busselton alone is expected to grow by around 30 per cent, this new centre will help provide a full set of Department of Transport services to the Busselton community.”

Fit-out of the Cook Street premises will begin in the second half of 2024, with the new centre expected to open in late-2024, with four new positions to be created.

The Department of Transport will continue to keep the community and stakeholders informed as the project progresses.
