The Managing Director Awards are grounded in the department’s values of collaboration, wellbeing, adaptability, and accountability, which are integral to DoT’s purpose of empowering a thriving community.

The awards featured several categories, each highlighting different aspects of excellence within the organisation.

In the 'leadership' category, it was particularly inspiring to see that most nominees were team leaders rather than senior managers, showcasing their initiative and enthusiasm in guiding their colleagues.

The 'everyday hero' category celebrated individuals described as role models and problem solvers, who consistently rise to challenges with qualities such as kindness, patience and dedication.

The 'outstanding service' category highlighted employees with extensive knowledge and the ability to apply it effectively, both individually and as part of high-performing teams.

The 'rising star' category recognised individuals who embody DoT values and demonstrate exceptional customer service and personal excellence.

The 'outstanding community service' category underscored the importance of community and service, with nominees making significant contributions across the state.

Lastly, the 'innovation' category showcased a workforce eager to embrace new technologies and improve customer service through innovative solutions.

Several standout teams and projects were highlighted during the nominations. The newly established Infringement Management Office received numerous nominations, reflecting its significant impact and successful integration into DoT.

The Regional and Remote Services business unit also garnered attention, highlighting the essential role they play in their communities.

Additionally, the Maritime Drone Project was recognised for its innovative use of drone technology to capture spatial data and imagery, resulting in significant cost savings and faster data processing.

The Managing Director Awards provided a snapshot of the remarkable achievements within DoT in 2024.

The event concluded with heartfelt thanks to all employees for their dedication and contributions to empowering a thriving Western Australian community.
